Sign Up Drastic measures to stem the  losses incurred by the cancellation of the flagship Royal Highland Show appear to have stabilised the finances of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS). The full impact of the pandemic on the fortunes of the RHASS  is laid bare in the society’s annual accounts which show a £4 million drop in income in the year to November 2020 to £5m (2019: £9.01m) and a net operating deficit of £247,000 (2019: £713,000).

The Royal Highland Show (RHS) was last week cancelled for the second year running due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with organisers heartbroken to admit it cannot go ahead in all its glory. Royal Highland Show 2021 to be streamed online >More in © Deadline News/Shutterstock Organisers of the Royal Highland Show (RHS) are working on an online event to be held in June after it was confirmed the traditional 2021 show will not happen due to coronavirus uncertainty. The plans would see livestock judging, showjumping and other competitions still take place at the Ingliston showground, near Edinburgh, and streamed online to the audience. Directors of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society (RHASS) are in favour of the idea and have asked the organisers to present full proposals following talks with exhibitors, sponsors and industry groups.
