Geoff Groom set out from home on a wild goose chase.
But just 40 minutes after arriving in Esperance on WA s south coast, the Perth resident broke into a celebratory dance after spotting a Cape Barren goose and ticking bird number 380 off his list.
Mr Groom is trying to set the record for a West Australian big year a challenge known among birdwatchers to identify as many species as possible within a geographical area in a calendar year.
