United Community Banks to buy FinTrust Capital Partners

Share United Community Bank today announced that its Advisory Services division will expand through the acquisition of FinTrust Capital Partners and its operating subsidiaries, FinTrust Capital Advisors LLC, FinTrust Capital Benefit Group LLC and FinTrust Brokerage Service LLC. FinTrust is a 13-year-old employee-owned investment advisory firm headquartered in Greenville with additional locations in Anderson, as well as the Georgia cities of Athens and Macon. The firm, which provides wealth and investment management services to individuals and institutions, had $2 billion in assets under management across its advisory, retirement planning and brokerage businesses at the end of March, according to a news release.

Allan Gillespie, who grew up in Glenrothes, will be hoping his new crime fiction novel appeals to fans of fellow Fifers Ian Rankin and Val McDermid. The Mash House, set in ‘Cullrothes’ in the Scottish Highlands, tells the story of a small village and the people who live there with some grim secrets. The book also looks set to relate to some of our experiences in lockdown and the reality of living in isolation.

You could face £70 fine for parking outside of your home under new laws. (PA) Motorists face fines for parking outside their homes as part of new laws that could be coming into force in the UK. Among new laws introduced this month, a nationwide ban on parking on pavements could be one of them. The law change would maximise safety of journeys of any disabled and visually impaired pedestrians. Reader Pam McCall pointed out that some roadlines are difficult to see: “It is tricky for anyone in a wheelchair or for people that are blind or visually impaired.” Alan Gillespie echoed such fears stating: “What about if it means a disabled driver needs to park away from where they are going, forcing them to walk?”
