Chinese outfit delivers Texas storage

The US arm of Chinese company Sungrow has secured a contract to supply a fully integrated energy storage system to the 100MW Chisholm Grid project in the state of Texas. Chisholm Grid has been under construction since August and will be one of the largest battery energy storage facilities in Texas when work onsite at Fort Worth is completed this June. The facility, utilising industry NMC battery technology, will generate revenue from the sale of energy and grid stabilisation services to the ERCOT wholesale electricity market. Chisholm is owned by Astral Electricity and developed by Able Grid Infrastructure Holdings, a joint venture between Able Grid and MAP RE/ES.

Update 7 January 2020: In response to some queries from Energy-Storage.news, a FlexGen representative said that the battery storage systems will be 110MW / 110MWh each, both putting 100MW of usable resource onto the grid and that they will utilise 280Ah CATL lithium iron phosphate large format battery cells. The representative also said that Josh Prueher and Doug Moorehead are now full-time with IPP Broad Reach Power, having left FlexGen.
