WASHINGTON: A US Navy medic shot and critically injured two people at an industrial park in the state of Maryland, before heading to a nearby military base, where he was killed by the personnel there, authorities said.
Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando told a news briefing that police responded to a shooting incident at around 8:20am on Tuesday at Riverside Tech Park, where the 38-year-old male suspect opened fire, striking two men and causing others to flee, reports Xinhua news agency.

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) A Navy corpsman shot and critically wounded two people at a Maryland business park this morning, then fled to a nearby Army base where he was shot and killed, police and U.S. Navy officials said.
The man entered a business at the Riverside Tech Park, causing people inside to flee, but it was unclear if the shooting took place inside or outside, Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said.
Two people were injured after a shooting near Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, on Tuesday. Police were called for an active shooter situation at 8:20 a.m. in the Riverside Tech Park area.
Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said when officers arrived on scene they found two adult males injured. The victims were flown by helicopter to Baltimore, where one of the victims was released Tuesday afternoon, while the other remained in critical condition. The 38-year-old suspect, who Navy Public Affairs confirmed was a Navy hospital corpsman, then traveled to nearby Fort Detrick and was subsequently shot and killed by base personnel, police said. The suspect, identified as Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, had been stationed at Fort Detrick base.
