(Updated 4:35 p.m.) A 140-year-old historic home in Arlington owned and built by Harry Gray, who was formerly enslaved at Arlington House, is for sale with an asking price of $915,000.
“A masonry D.C. row house with the convenience of an Arlington location,” reads the real estate listing. “As soon as you walk in from your front porch the home shines with its exposed brick and tall ceilings & windows, giving it a spacious, cozy feel.”
Located at 1005 S. Quinn Street, right off of Columbia Pike, the building is on the National Register for Historic Places and is protected by the county under the “historic district” designation. This means that certain exterior alterations have to be approved by the county’s Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board (HALRB).
Most of Arlington National Cemetery, including the iconic Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and former President John F. Kennedy's gravesite, will be fully opened in time for Memorial Day, officials said Tuesday.
Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial Tickets
Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee MemorialArlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial is a place to explore the complexities of life in the mid 1800’s as America entered the Civil War over the cause of slavery. In April of 1861, Robert E. Lee signed his resignation from the Union Army and soon after joined the Confederacy to fight for Virginia’s secession, forever changing the course of his family’s legacy. It is also place of study and contemplation of the meaning of some of the most difficult aspects of American History: military service; sacrifice; citizenship; duty; loyalty; slavery and freedom.

“There seems to be a LOT of dissatisfaction with the new county logos,” one reader said, in an email to ARLnow.
Locals are being asked to weigh in on the proposed logo designs by May 26, ahead of County Board consideration in June. But a plurality seem to be calling for more choices.
In an unscientific ARLnow poll this week, about 46% of more than 3,000 respondents said the county should “go back to the drawing board.” The most popular choice the fifth logo above, on the far right-hand side was the preference of 24% of respondents.
The dissatisfaction is more stark on some social media channels.
