Armidale Regional Council Mayor Cr. Ian Tiley was joined by the Armidale District Cricket Association this morning to officially announce the latest players headlining the event set to be a major boost to the region. “This event will be the largest the region has seen in a long time and will greatly benefit the entire community,” he said.

Armidale Regional Council has taken another step in its vision to rehabilitate and enhance the Armidale Creeklands. They will now seek funding from the State and Federal Government to engage experts to assist in a review of their 2004 Environmental Management Plan. A central point of the city, the waterway connects the community in a symbolic and literal way. In 2018, a Master Plan was developed in consultation with the people of Armidale to improve the creeklands area. The aim to create a more vibrant civic space for events and to restore the creek to a more natural environment that would be safe to swim in.

Date Time Council supports rating reform bill for a fairer rating system Councillors have moved to support a bill proposed by the Office of Local Government that will change the way Council can set rating structures and implement rates harmonisation at the January 27 Ordinary Council Meeting. The Exposure Draft Bill Local Government Amendment (Rating) Bill 2021 was released for public consultation on 22 December 2020 by the NSW Government in an attempt to deliver a fairer and more flexible rating system for ratepayers and Councils. This will provide some relief to those set to be affected by the rates harmonisation that will be implemented from July 1 2021.
