Yinka Odumakin & Innocent Chukwuma: Indelible footprints of two revolutionary fighters

Yinka Odumakin & Innocent Chukwuma: Indelible footprints of two revolutionary fighters On By Lanre Arogundade The demise of Yinka and Innocent within twenty four hours of each other last weekend was a double blow for Nigeria’s radical movement. The more the reality of their exit registers, the more the pains and pangs torment. If the passage of Gani Fawehinmi, Alao Aka-Bashorun, Arthur Nwankwo, etc, at advanced age caused considerable grief, that of Yinka and Innocent cannot but be evocative of the kind of deeper grief that greeted the exit of Chris Abashi, Chima Ubani, Bamidele Aturu, Remi Ogunlana, Rotimi Ewebiyi, Bala Muhammed, Emma Ezeazu, etc.

PDP, Femi Falana condemn arrest of Kano governor s ex-aide by DSS

PDP, Femi Falana condemn arrest of Kano governor’s ex-aide by DSS March 1, 2021 The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and a human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has condemned the arrest of Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, a former Special Adviser on Media to Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) shortly after criticising President Muhammadu Buhari on Twitter. Falana, who is the Interim Chairman, Alliance on Surviving COVID-19 and Beyond (ASCAB), said this in a statement yesterday titled, ‘Asking Buhari to Resign is Not An Offence’. The senior advocate said retired military officers and political party leaders, including chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have repeatedly asked Buhari to call it quits due to the worsening insecurity in the country, adding that there is no justification for the arrest and detention of Yakassai.
