That’s a warning from well-known Democratic strategist James Carville. During a recent and timely discussion with Vox, Carville advised readers about the Democrats’ messaging issues. “If you’re asking me, I think it’s because large parts of the country view us (Democrats) as an urban, coastal, arrogant party, and a lot gets passed through that filter. That’s a real thing. I don’t give a damn what anyone thinks about it—it’s a real phenomenon, and it’s damaging to the party brand.” Some of that damage is the residue of “woke” folks’ defunding the police mantra.

Kaufman Alyssa Nepper, UW-Parkside Dennis Kaufman, professor and chair of the department of economics at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, said he thinks the concept that workers are turning down work because of the stimulus and increased unemployment benefits, is “mean-spirited” and impractical. “Some may have made more money by not working, but for how long?” Kaufman said. “It’s a short-term argument … in light of the pandemic, it was better (for the government) to be more generous than less generous.” As more businesses reopen their doors and expand operations while the COVID-19 pandemic wanes, “Help Wanted” signs are cropping up like spring dandelions, with many employers saying they are finding it more difficult than ever to find workers.

Cyr: President Biden s 100 days and FDR Arthur Cyr President Joe Biden has just completed his first 100 days in the White House, and marked the occasion by addressing a joint session of Congress on April 28.  President Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first to emphasize this length of time, and create a benchmark for future chief executives. FDR launched an enormous whirlwind of policy and political activity immediately after his inauguration as president on March 4, 1933.  This included the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which moved inauguration of the president and vice president from March up to Jan. 20. Under that amendment as well, members of Congress assume office on Jan. 3 rather than the later month.
