If you missed the initial winter release of Arturo Fuente’s Opus22 and OpusX Story travel humidor, the remaining batches of both 2020 special-edition sets are going out to retailers on May 17.
Although regular-production Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars are quite rare, the Opus22 sampler contains 22 OpusX sizes that are even more esoteric, and not part of the core line. Every year, the Opus22 cigar selection changes, making this package quite popular with collectors.

While the original OpusX ForbiddenX 13 had wrappers that were noticeably darker and less red than the regular OpusX, this cigar’s wrapper is actually pretty close to regular OpusX. I’m pretty sure that most people wouldn’t be able to tell if this was rebanded as regular OpusX, though it too is missing some of the red hues. Some of that might be my eyes adjusting to the black band compared to the red band, but this is pretty close. These cigars weren’t stored in cellophane, though they are wrapped in a cedar sleeve. While the cedar takes up quite a bit of the wrapper’s surface area, it doesn’t seem to impart that much aroma into the cigar. I pick up a bit of cedar aroma along with something that reminds me of copier paper as well as sage. The foot is much more vibrant with wheat, floral flavors and pizza crust. Arturo Fuente Adding Three New Rare Pink Vitolas
Arturo Fuente will be adding a trio of new sizes to its Rare Pink line, bringing the total number of cigars in the line to seven.
The first two vitolas are scheduled to arrive in October: 3 3/4 x 54 and 7 1/4 x 53. Like the rest of the sizes in the line, they will be perfectos.

halfwheel that there is also another size, which he described as a “Lancero Figurado” that will arrive “several months after” October.
The line, formally known as Rare Pinks Vintage 1960’s Series, debuted late last year. It uses an Ecuadorian wrapper over a mixture of filler tobaccos, including tobacco from the Fuente farms in Nicaragua.

Arturo Fuente cigars has expanded its international footprint. This week, Arturo Fuente International formed a distribution partnership with Spain’s La Casa del Tabaco (LCT), which will begin importing and distributing Arturo Fuente cigars for the Spanish market.
“We haven’t had a distributor in Spain for many years,” Jeremiah Meerapfel, president of Arturo Fuente International, told
Cigar Aficionado. Spain has a long history of cigar consumption, and the country has traditionally ranked as one of the bigger markets for handmade cigars, especially Cubans, although one that has shown a prevalence for less expensive smokes.
