Here are the top first-round volleyball playoff games from around the state Tags: Updated January 12, 2021 9:17 a.m. EST By J. Mike Blake, HighSchoolOT Contributor Raleigh, N.C. The N.C. High School Athletic Association s winter volleyball postseason kicks off on Tuesday. Each bracket has 32 teams, down from 64 a year ago, and was sorted with a random draw between teams with equal seeds. Those factors have led to some interesting first-round games that typically would be second-round or third-round games. These are 15 to watch closely (online, for most of us) on Tuesday night. Bracket: 3A West Fun fact: both of these teams will be 4A next fall.

(Christ School Faceoff Man Sean Dow.|Photo Courtesy of Christ School) Over the next month, Lacrosse Bucket will be releasing high school lacrosse superlatives ahead of the 2021 season for a majority of the states in the South. It’s January, which means lacrosse season is right around the corner. In the many southern states, the high school lacrosse season is a month away or sooner, especially this year. High School lacrosse in the Tar Heel State is just 25 days away. January 25th marks opening day for teams in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) teams and February 15th marks the start of the season for teams in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISSA), which is made up entirely of private schools.

Thousands More CMS Students Choose Remote Learning, Especially In High Schools

WFAE Hough High in Cornelius had 425 of its 2,500 students choose Full Remote Academy first semester. For second semester more than 1,100 have opted out of in-person classes. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeing an increase in students opting out of in-person classes for the second semester, especially in several large high schools. Numbers provided by CMS show just over 57,000 students enrolled in the Full Remote Academy for the semester that starts in January, compared with about 50,000 in the semester that s ending. That s 39% of all CMS students next semester. The increase is driven largely by massive sign-ups at several large high schools. For instance, Hough High in Cornelius went from 425 of its 2,500 students in full-remote first semester to 1,127 second semester.
