Les is at the Windy Hollow Tea Estate, just north of Scotland’s Ochil Hills, where artisan tea producer Monica Griesbaum makes tea so good she is selling it to the Chinese.

The end for the greatest source of 70 years of bagpiping history in the world? THEY are the publications which together became a crucial tome of over 70 years of Scottish bagpiping history. The former Pipe Major of the 9th Battalion, Queen’s Own Highlanders, Captain John MacLellan, considered one of the greatest pipers of all time, hailed it as the greatest single repository of bagpipe knowledge and information in the world’ . But the monthly Piping Times and its sister magazine, the bi-monthly Piping Today ceased publication last year through the Covid crisis. And now it has been confirmed that a decision has been made to stop printing the titles as they were not financially sustainable.

Something went wrong - please try again later. Sign Up A campaign to protect decades of piping history has started on a high note. The National Piping Centre has launched a crowd-funder to raise money to ensure the long-term future of its Piping Times and Piping Today periodicals. Already more than £5,000 has been raised towards the £28,500 target. The project involves the digitisation of the magazine archive, a resource that will be free to access online, and the production of a new annual publication that carries the Piping Times title.
