Police Files, May 7 2021 - Campbeltown Courier

Campbeltown Courier Want to read more? At the start of the pandemic in March we took the decision to make online access to our news free of charge by taking down our paywall. At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. In order to help safeguard the future of our journalism, the time has now come to reinstate our paywall. However,  To access all other news will require a subscription, as it did pre-pandemic. The good news is that for the whole of December we will be running a special discounted offer to get 3 months access for the price of one month. Thank you for supporting us during this incredibly challenging time.

Three Darwen firefighters to retire after nearly 85 years combined service

Three firefighters are about to enjoy a well-deserved retirement with them all having lengthy service under their belt. Firefighters Neil Cameron and Alan Butterworth and watch manager Tony Keane will be hanging up their boots after working on thousands of incidents in their careers out of Darwen station. Tony, 55, has 30 years of service with Lancashire Fire and has many memories working with different crews in the county and working his way up the ranks. He said: “The more you do it, the better you get. Even after 30 years, you still don’t know it all and you never will. “This is one of those jobs where you don’t know what you are going to be doing from one day to the next.
