A National Trust ranger has warned of the devastating effects of sheep worrying on flocks after a traumatic incident over the festive break.
Shepherd Andrew Capell looks after nationally-important sites at Sutton Hoo, Dunwich and at Orfordness where rare breed sheep are used to graze the landscape and maintain it.
Prolonged spells in lockdown have prompted more householders to become dog owners and has also resulted in an upsurge in country walks.

Katy Stickland chooses 25 modern cruising sailors who have inspired others to throw off the bowlines and explore by sail

When you think of sailing heroes you automatically think of those skippers who achieved ‘firsts’.
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Dame Ellen MacArthur, Sir Francis Chichester, Dame Naomi James and Bernard Moitessier, to name just a few, would all feature on such a list.
But I decided to focus on the sailors who are actively cruising, and whose writing and vlogging over the last two decades have quietly inspired sailors to plan and set sail on their own adventures, even if it was only for a short cruise from their home port or harbour.
As I write this, I feel euphoric. I ve just emerged from the sea, off the Suffolk coast at Aldeburgh. Yes, it s May, but the North Sea s never as cold as you think it s going to be – or, I admit, as warm. Nevertheless, from April to October you can easily immerse yourself in it for minutes on end, without swearing. You don t have to breaststroke the length of the beach to experience the natural high. This morning I didn t swim anywhere. I simply plunged in, did a couple of hundred bicycle kicks and let the current take me as far as the north lookout tower, where I got out and strolled back down the beach to where I d left my clothes. Is that swimming or cheating? Who cares? All I know is, it left me with a huge, renewed appetite for life, love, beauty, truth and, above all, scrambled eggs.
Natural England unveils plans for final stretch of coast path in Suffolk

From: Orford Quay is just one of the sights along the new section of coast path in Suffolk
Proposals for improved public access to a 39-mile (62km) stretch of coast between Bawdsey and Aldeburgh have been unveiled today, Wednesday 3 February 2021, by Natural England.
When established, this fifth and final stretch of the path will complete a 138-mile (222km) coastal route along the Suffolk coast. It will run from the Essex/Suffolk border near Manningtree to the Suffolk/Norfolk border at Hopton-on-Sea. Extending around the Alde and Ore estuary, it includes 3 rivers: the Ore, Butley and Alde.
