Microsoft is retiring Calibri as its default font and is asking the public to vote on its successor.
The technology company has commissioned five new fonts, which are already available for use across Microsoft 360 apps. They’re inviting users to choose their favorite by leaving comments on social media. A default font is often the first impression we make; it’s the visual identity we present to other people via our resumes, documents, or emails, Microsoft said in a news release. And just as people and the world around us age and grow, so too should our modes of expression.
Ms Stringer added that the smell has forced her to move out at times.
Other residents, like Phoebe Smith, have begun taping up their doors and windows to try to keep the stench out. We re really concerned that breathing in this hydrogen sulphide constantly, every night, is going to effect our physical health in the long term.

At the beginning of March, the Environment Agency detected levels of gas that were far higher than the limits set by the World Health Organization.

Microsoft is introducing five new Office fonts and is leveraging the power of social media to find out which font should be the default one. In a tweet, Microsoft said: We need to talk. What should our next default font be? This was accompanied by a picture with the letter penned by the five new fonts and addressed to the font Calibri. We have loved our time together, but we have outgrown this relationship, the letter said and was signed off by the next potential default font - Tenorite, Bierstadt, Skeena, Seaford, and Grandview. Nonetheless, Microsoft reassured users that Calibri will always remain available even though it is no longer the default font.

Microsoft is replacing its default font for the first time in 14 years and asking the public for feedback on potential replacements.
Calibri was chosen as the default font for Microsoft programmes like Office, Powerpoint and Outlook in 2007. At the time it replaced Times New Roman.
Now Microsoft says that “it’s time to evolve”. It has commissioned five original, custom fonts in its search for a new default.

Microsoft is changing its default font for the first time in nearly 15 years, and it wants your help selecting the new one. And no, you can t vote for the goofy options like Comic Sans, Windings or heaven forbid Papyrus.
The company has commissioned five new custom typefaces to replace Calibri, a workhorse of a font that has been the default for all your Word docs and Outlook emails since 2007. Calibri replaced Times New Roman (a noble type family but one with decidedly pre-internet aesthetic).
