The event, conducted from Dec. 1-5, and the first of its kind at Eglin, brought together military units from across the country for a multi-domain land, air, space and cyberspace exercise to experiment with command and control technologies in a realistic combat training environment.
Overall, the goal for Emerald Flag was to collect and distribute tactical data at high speeds. We re doing this in extraordinarily challenging times this year, and that is a very impressive feat that we are able to continue getting this level of work and innovation accomplished at Team Eglin, Cain said in his Facebook message.

TOKYO – Japan’s capital city reported a record-breaking 822 new coronavirus cases Thursday, a 17% jump above a record set the previous day, according to public broadcaster NHK and metro government data. South of central Tokyo, the commander of Yokosuka Naval Base said the number of patients there is greater now than ever before during the pandemic.

The U.S. military command in South Korea is raising its coronavirus risk level and imposing new restrictions as the peninsula experiences record-breaking levels of new infections. South Korea counted 1,078 newly infected coronavirus patients Tuesday, a pandemic record for that country, and 12 deaths, according to the country’s Central Disease Control Headquarters. U.S. Forces Korea is returning to Health Protection Condition-Charlie, which reflects a substantial risk of the virus spreading, starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, according to a Facebook post by the command on Wednesday evening.

TOKYO – The home of the U.S. 7th Fleet attributed a rash of new coronavirus cases to unauthorized behavior in risky places, while in South Korea the U.S. military hinted at another round of strict public health measures. Yokosuka Naval Base, 35 miles south of Tokyo, said 11 new coronavirus cases had appeared since Friday, many of them linked to forbidden activities, such as trips to bars and restaurant dining in Yokohama and Tokyo, according to a Facebook post Tuesday.

U.S. Forces Korea is raising its Health Protection Condition to Charlie “out of an abundance of caution to protect the force” for the greater Seoul metropolitan area. That’s up from HPCON Bravo, which the Department of Defense says means that the risk is moderate and there has been an increase in community transmissions. In comparison, HPCON Charlie stipulates the risk is substantial and there has been sustained community transmission.
