Ferris wheel, racing pigs, cattle exhibition set to return to fairgrounds
The second South Florida Fair of 2021 will run from Friday until Sunday, May 23, at the fairgrounds, on Southern Boulevard west of Florida s Turnpike. The mini-fair featured only outdoor events to prevent the spread of the airborne pathogen.
But the May fair, akin to the traditional January event that attracts tens of thousands of people, will have both outdoor and indoor events and rides, including racing pigs, a cattle exhibition, a 155-foot Ferris wheel, a nature-themed augmented reality program and an ice skating show.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is more easily spread indoors. So the fair will require attendees to wear masks, while encouraging people to stay at least 6 feet apart and rub their hands with provided hand sanitizer, organizers said.

Corn dogs, cotton candy, vaccinations?
The South Florida Fair opens on Friday and COVID-19 vaccinations will be offered during the first four days.
Organizers say anyone who gets a shot at the vaccination booth will be given a free ticket to return to the fair on any future day. The fair runs through May 23rd.
The idea is to go and enjoy the fair and get vaccinated on your way out. The booth will be set up near the fair s Gate 2 exit from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Sunday and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.
