Encore Homes Patients from hospitals in Dorset who have been transferred to Encore Care Homes for specialist care have praised the support they have received from the staff. Residents who were non-Covid hospital admissions have been welcomed into Encore Care Homes, after a negative Covid test result. They have been receiving temporary care through a partnership with the NHS to reduce the pressure on hospitals. Peggy Aedy, 78, who arrived at Great Oaks in January from Bournemouth Hospital, said: “I had choked on my food, which is why I went into hospital. I live by myself with the help of carers coming in three times a day. The staff at Great Oaks have been very helpful.

Even before Covid-19, aides caring for elderly and disabled people in nursing homes often were overworked and underpaid, doing everything from changing linens to helping residents eat to physically rotating them to prevent bed sores.
Ashley Ford often was one of four aides for as many as 42 residents at the Indiana nursing home where she’s worked since early 2019. She sometimes skipped breaks when work got busy so she wouldn’t leave patients waiting.
Staff being recruited across the North West to join vaccination team in Leitrim centre

The Saolta University Health Care Group is currently recruiting staff to support the roll out of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. The Group is looking for clinical staff (a minimum of 19.5 and maximum 39 hours per week) who are eligible to administer vaccines for an initial 3 month contract, which may be extended. The Group is also recruiting Health Care Assistants and administrative staff to support the vaccination centres.
Vaccinations Centres will be located in Galway, Sligo, Letterkenny, Castlebar, Carrick on Shannon and Roscommon. The vaccination programme will run 7 days a week over a 12 hour day.
