Share Via Email   |  A+A A- By Express News Service BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Government on Wednesday claimed that the death of a security guard of a public health facility in the State was unrelated to Covid-19 vaccination. A security guard of Nuapada district headquarters hospital (DHH), Nanakram Keunt (27) had died while undergoing treatment at VIMSAR, Burla on Tuesday. He was administered a dose of Covishield on January 23. Additional Chief Secretary of Health department PK Mohapatra said the youth had got the shot as he was enrolled under the category of healthcare workers in the first phase. His death was due to other health complications and it was not a case of adverse event following immunisation (AEFI), he clarified.

Share Via Email   |  A+A A- By Express News Service BHUBANESWAR: Odisha is among 19 states and UTs which will receive the Covid-19 vaccine from the supplier/manufacturer in the first phase. The vaccine is expected to arrive in the State next week. In the first phase, Odisha requires around seven lakh doses of vaccine to be administered to 3,28,560 lakh healthcare workers (HCWs) and ICDS functionaries. As per the cold chain management guideline, once the vaccine is airlifted from the manufacturer to the State Capital, the vials will be taken to the State vaccine store and then transported to regional vaccine stores at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Ganjam, Balasore, Balangir, Kandhamal, Koraput, Sambalpur and Sundargarh through special vans.

The beneficiaries list also included 1.4 lakh ICDS functionaries like Anganwadi workers.

Mohapatra said that all the UK returnees to the State have been traced. Besides, swab samples of ones who tested positive for COVID-19 were sent to various laboratories for genome sequencing. Odisha Health & Family Welfare Department on Thursday said that no mutated strain of coronavirus was found in any of the returnees from the United Kingdom or their immediate contacts. “The mutated strain of SARS-CoV-2 was not detected in any of samples in Odisha,” said the department’s Additional Chief Secretary.

Odisha starts tracking 61 UK returnees The DDMA has also shared the names, passport and contact numbers of the rest of the passengers whose whereabouts will be ascertained by the Covid monitoring cell.  Share Via Email   |  A+A A- By Express News Service BHUBANESWAR: Odisha government on Thursday started an exercise to trace and test around 61 persons who have returned to Odisha in the last two weeks.The list of returnees was shared by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) with the State government. Of the 3,445 travellers who returned to India from Britain since December 7 via IGI Airport at Delhi, around 61, including 12 women, were from 15 districts of Odisha. On receiving the list, the State Health and Family Welfare department has sounded an alert asking districts and municipalities to track the returnees and intensify active surveillance in their areas.
