LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) on Saturday extended closure of colleges and universities in 23 districts of the province due to increase in the number of coronavirus cases.
According to a notification of the HED, “Pursuant to the decisions taken in the meeting of National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) held on May 19, all public and private colleges in following districts shall remain closed till further orders. The districts include Attock, Gujranwala, Layyah, Okara, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Lodhran, Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar, Khanewal, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Multan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Muzaffargarh and Toba Tek Singh.”

Chandigarh: In a major fillip to the Punjab Health infrastructure, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today handed over appointment letters to 50 Medical Officers (Specialist).Out of these 12 are Medicine Specialist, 21 Anesthesia specialist,13 Pediatricians, 4 chest and T.B. specialists.
Disclosing more about this recruitment drive, the Health Minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had promised to provide jobs under ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ scheme. Every effort is being made to achieve the goal to provide jobs to the unemployed youth of Punjab.

In Pakistan, blatant refusals of vaccines are being replaced with immunisation hesitancy, in which parents are weighing arguments for and against vaccination. The concern is that, if people are not engaged appropriately via communication and social mobilisation, doubts about the trade-offs between the benefits and potential side effects can persist. The objective of this study was to explore strategies for improved social mobilisation to reduce immunisation hesitancy. The study sites were Sargodha and Khushab districts of Punjab Province, where full immunisation coverage rates are 68% and 66%, respectively. Chandigarh: Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu today handed over appointment letters to 96 Multipurpose Health Workers (MPHWs). Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Hussan Lal was specially present on the occasion.
Disclosing this here today the Health Minister said that out of the total 200 sanctioned posts of Multipurpose Health Workers, appointment letters were today given to 96 Multipurpose Health Workers. While the remaining posts will be filled in phased manner as soon as possible. All these appointments are being made by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in a transparent manner on the basis of merit.
