ISLAMABAD: SAPM on Health Dr Faisal Sultan Monday announced on Monday that the government has planned to vaccinate 70 million people by the end of 2021 and efforts are underway to acquire coronavirus vaccines so that it is able to do so.
In a media briefing, Dr Faisal Sultan said due to the agreement on the transfer of technology, the National Institute of Health (NIH) will be able to produce three million doses per month which will significantly reduce the country’s dependence on other countries.
Coronavirus vaccination centres to remain open on Labour Day

Considering the rise in coronavirus cases, the government has decided to keep COVID-19 vaccination centres open on Labour Day (May 1). In view of the need to continue our vaccine drive, COVID vaccine centres will be open on May 1, said Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan.
The decision comes a day after, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) head Asad Umar announced that Pakistan will be starting the vaccination of people falling within the age group of 40-49 years from Monday, May 3.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday indicated that the government might go for complete lockdown in coronavirus-hit cities and stressed the need for smooth supplies of food items during lockdown.
“The prime minister has directed that food supplies should be improved if we go for complete lockdown,” said federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry in a press conference after weekly cabinet meeting.
The cabinet meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Khan, decided that Iran would be asked to export oxygen to Pakistan for Covid-19 patients on humanitarian basis by relaxing the ban the neighbouring country had imposed on oxygen export due to the alarming situation of Covid-19 it was facing.

Govt announces Senat Insaf Card scheme for permanent residents of Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Around 258,000 families in Islamabad and 328,000 households in GB will be able to benefit from the scheme, says Dr Faisal Sultan.
Under the scheme, the government has planned to provide free medical treatment to 80 million poor people or 10.5 million households across the country.
