Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 4) - Senator Francis Tolentino on Sunday proposed that local government units and the private sector should have a voice in the COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force, noting the two sectors know the actual situation on the ground.
In a radio interview, Tolentino pushed for the inclusion of the Union of Local Authorities in the Philippines (ULAP) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in the IATF.
Tolentino - who chairs the Senate Committee on Local Government - cited the deadlock between the Cebu provincial government and the IATF on quarantine rules for returning Filipinos. He said it s important to synchronize the recommendations of the national government, LGUs, and the private sector to prevent conflicting policies over health and safety protocols.
