Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), a leading emerging markets company, has joined hands with the Health Department of Assam to boost the healthcare infrastructure of hospitals handling COVID-19 cases.
The relief efforts, part of GCPL s CSR initiative, comprises of setting up 38 ICU beds at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) along with adequate supply of Godrej Protekt sanitisers. The total investment behind these initiatives is more than Rs 28 lakh.

GUWAHATI: A Division Bench of the Gauhati High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Government of India, the Government of Assam and the State s Health & Family Welfare Department, asking them to respond within three weeks to a complaint filed via a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by Debabrata Saikia, Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, to the effect that many patients have suffered harassment or even died as a result of insistence by various hospitals of Assam to produce Corona-related certificates even in cases requiring emergency treatment.

According to I & PR Department’s tweet, Sundergarh District reported 41 new cases, followed by 32 cases each from Angul & Khurda District, 22 cases from Puri, 21 cases from Cuttack, 20 cases from Mayurbhanj, 19 cases from Bolangir, 18 cases from Bargarh, 17 cases from Balasore, 15 cases from Sambalpur, 14 cases from Keonjhar, 13 cases from Jagatsinghpur, 12 cases from Nuapada, 10 cases from Kalahandi, 8 cases each from Ganjam, Jajpur Jharsuguda & Kendrapara, 5 cases from Malkangiri, 4 cases from Bhadrak, 3 cases from Dhenkanal, 2 cases each from Nayagarh & Rayagada, 1 case each from Koraput & Sonepur and 7 cases from State Pool.
