Bong Go pushes measures to fill gaps in pandemic response and strengthen gov t preparedness for public health emergencies
Senator and Chair of the Senate Committee on Health Christopher Bong Go during a hearing on Thursday, May 6, pushed for a set of measures which aim to strengthen the country s epidemic preparedness and response to COVID-19 by addressing the gaps and weaknesses in the health care system.
In a speech delivered before the Committee on Health, Go acknowledged the need to expand the capacity of the health care system in order to address the still high number of COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region and its surrounding provinces.

Institutionalizing governing body for health crisis prevention and management sought as Bong Go files bill creating Center for Disease Control and Prevention
On Tuesday, May 4, Senator and Chair of the Senate Committee on Health Christopher Bong Go filed Senate Bill No. 2158 which seeks to create a government agency that will assume the responsibility of protecting the lives of millions of Filipinos by monitoring, tracking, responding to, and mitigating outbreaks of infectious diseases and other public health emergencies in the country.
This is one of the priority measures mentioned by President Rodrigo Duterte in his State of the Nation Address last year.

Senator and Chair of the Senate Committee on Health Christopher Bong Go earlier welcomed the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases to include frontline news media workers in the updated list of sectors under Priority Group A4 of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Program.
The Senator had previously appealed to the government to include members of the media in the COVID-19 priority list without prejudice to other sectors already identified as priorities.
