Photo / Mark Mitchell NZ Herald By: Nick James Data obtained under the Official Information Act reveals a dramatic drop in applications to resolve tenancy disputes over the past decade. In 2010 there were 5071 cases by tenants and landlords in the Wellington region compared with just 1670 last year, according to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). Renters United spokesperson Ashok Jacob said the numbers were very concerning. Because the rental market has tightened significantly over the past decade people are less willing to complain and stand up for themselves.
