(Mique l Dangeli) Six individuals and three organizations have been recognized for their work around reconciliation with the inaugural British Columbia Reconciliation Award.  The new award,  announced in November, goes to British Columbians who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, integrity, respect, and commitment to furthering reconciliation with Indigenous people. It was founded by former lieutenant-governor Steven Lewis Point, and the winners were determined by a committee including Indigenous elders and leaders. Corey Payette, a playwright, actor, and director, was among this year s winners.

Among them, Beth Strano- the Asylum Seekers and Families Coordinator with the International Rescue Committee in Arizona. The Committee helps oversee operations at several facilities designed to help and house asylum seekers across the state.
