December 17, 2020 GMT ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) A 26-year-old man who fatally struck a University of Central Florida student last year as she walked near campus was sentenced to more than a decade in prison Wednesday. Yousuf Hasan received his 12-year term after pleading no contest in Orange County Court to one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving death, news outlets reported. Prosecutors dropped additional charges under a plea deal. Hasan ran over a curb and hit London Harrell, 21, as she was walking home from a bar along a grass shoulder off the road in June 2019, authorities said. Her body hit his windshield, but Hasan kept driving and denied hitting her when he was questioned by law enforcement, according to Circuit Judge Elaine A. Barbour.
