A COVID-19 vaccine made by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech is safe and effective enough to give to younger teens, the Food and Drug Administration said Monday in authorizing its use.
The decision means adolescents aged 12 to 15 could qualify for shots within days.
An advisory committee to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is scheduled to meet Wednesday to review the recommendation for authorization.
The Western States Safety Review workgroup plans to review the findings that day and provide its recommendation for California, Oregon, Nevada and Washington, according to Sami Gallegos, press secretary for California s COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force.
