CENTERVILLE, Ind. The veterans will stand and watch appreciative citizens parade past them Saturday, May 15.
The Armed Forces Day Parade in Centerville will be a reverse parade. The honorees will stand six feet apart along Crown Creek Boulevard, while the audience will drive, bike or walk past them, according to a news release.
Frank Crowe, a 98-year-old World War II veteran and Centerville resident, will be the grand marshal. He will be escorted in a WWII Jeep by Ron Hill.
Any area veteran, whether he or she served during peacetime or war, is invited to participate and be recognized. Vietnam-era veterans will be specially recognized with a gift from the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans organization in Indianapolis.
CDOT Announces Upcoming Road Closures Thursday, May 6, 2021 Market Street will be closed Friday, May 7 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. between 12th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for the Armed Forces Day Parade staging. Market Street between Martin Luther King Boulevard and 4th Street will experience a rolling closure between 10:30-11:30 a.m. The following streets will be closed at Market Street during this time: 8th Street, 7th Street, 6th Street and 5th Street. Chattanooga Market Reggie White Blvd will be closed in front of the First Horizon Pavilion on Sunday, May 9 during the Chattanooga Market. This week s theme is Mothers Day.

Mickey McCamish - a retired Navy captain - is the military co-chairman of this year’s parade.
Mickey is also executive director of Friends of the Festival, which just announced the Riverfront Nights summer concert series will return on June 5th to Ross’ Landing in downtown Chattanooga - with plans for a smaller Riverbend Festival sometime in the fall.

1. What is the theme for this year s event?
This year s theme is the 30th anniversary of Operation Desert Storm. It s kind of a heart-felt deal for McAlester because the McAlester-based 445th Military Police Company of the Oklahoma National Guard was deployed to the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm.
