AMSTERDAM - A city man faces a range of charges after busting up a patrol car and breaking an arresting officer s nose, police said Thursday.
Police said while on patrol two officers saw the Division Street man, 28, walking on Thomas Street Tuesday night, knowing he was wanted for failing to appear in court on charges dating from July. The man allegedly tried to hide his identity and when he was taken into custody in handcuffs he struck the side of the patrol car with his body and kept struggling until he was put on the back of the car.

AMSTERDAM A 37-year-old city man found lying in the road with gunshot wounds on Friday has succumbed to his injuries, according to a news release from the Amsterdam Police Department.
Amsterdam police confirmed today the shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday is now classified as a homicide as the victim, Ricardo M. Lopez, died of his injuries while at Albany Medical Center.
Lopez was last residing at an address on Church Street in Amsterdam before he was discovered severely injured in the roadway on Hibbard Street on Friday.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and investigators from Amsterdam police, New York State Police Major Crimes, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the continued process of interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.
