ANGELS at Online in San Francisco - March 11, 2021

Angels a virtual musical event in remembrance of those loved and lost to AIDS streaming on Thursday, March 11 at 6pm on SFGMC TV, the free online platform showcasing exciting performances, dynamic interviews, singer spotlights, and more. Angels will commemorate the 30th anniversary of When We No Longer Touch, the world s first requiem dedicated to those lost to AIDS, with a rebroadcast from SFGMC s momentous 40th anniversary concert that took place on October 26, 2018 at San Francisco s St. Ignatius Church. This moving work was commissioned by SFGMC Artistic Director Dr. Timothy Seelig and the Turtle Creek Chorale in Dallas, Texas. A documentary of the work was created by PBS and awarded the Emmy Award for Best Documentary in 1994.

TACA Wraps Up 2020 With More Than $200,000 in Grants to Dallas Arts Organizations

Updated on December 22, 2020 at 2:17 pm Kitchen Dog Theater When Terry Loftis looks back at the arts community in 2020, three words come to mind: inspiring, endurance and optimism. Loftis, the President and Executive Director of The Arts Community Alliance (TACA), announced $200,500 in grants to 30 Dallas arts organizations persevering through the coronavirus pandemic. 2020 is Loftis’ first calendar year to serve as TACA’s president and executive director. When he officially took over the job in late 2019, his goals included making TACA relevant, putting the arts advocacy group in a position of leadership for the arts community and cultivating art. The pandemic accelerated those goals. “COVID comes along and just says, ‘Everything that you have planned and everything you didn’t have planned is now in play. Ready, set, go!’” Loftis said. “We’ve been running a gauntlet, but the upside to that is a lot of the long-term objectives I had set for TACA, we’ve already

The idea of returning to normal or perhaps adjusting to an entirely new normal is within grasp. But still, the collateral damage has already been felt beyond individuals and hospitals. Bars, restaurants, small businesses, charities have all felt the heavy blow of the pandemic. Area arts organizations have suffered greatly as well, to the tune of almost $70 million dollars in lost revenue.
