The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved its judgment on a petition filed by medical students, challenging the re-admission process of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) in medical and dental colleges. The court stated that the bench would decide the maintainability of the case with it after the activation of medical tribunals.
Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case filed by medical students against the PMC decision for the readmission process in colleges.
The PMC had decided to go for a readmission process after receiving several complaints about irregularities in the admission process. The court instructed the lawyers of both sides to submit their written comments within three days and reserved the judgment.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned hearing till June 9, on appeals in graft references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members pertaining to Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Avenfield property and Flagship Investment.
A division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the appeals filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the former prime minister, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Muhammad Safdar Awan.
Maryam Nawaz, Muhammad Safdar, NAB’s Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi and prosecutor Jahanzeb Bharwana appeared before the court. During proceeding, the NAB prosecutor requested the bench to dismiss appeals of the former prime minister against his imprisonment sentences due to non-pursuance and absence.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has referred to the interior ministry the case of 41 Pakistani prisoners who were convicted of drug trafficking in Sri Lanka but were brought back under an agreement signed with Colombo to serve jail terms in their home country.
The inmates were brought back by a chartered flight of Pakistan International Airlines in November last year.
This was the first case of repatriation over the past seven years under the bilateral Prisoner Transfer Agreement (PTA) signed by Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 2004. According to the agreement, transfers are allowed in cases where sentences exceed six months.
