Headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts, Nuance is widely known in the U.S. health-care space, but has room to grow overseas. On the day the deal was announced, Microsoft said that 55% of U.S. doctors and 77% of U.S. hospitals use Nuance, and 80% of its revenue came from the U.S. in its most recent fiscal year. That means Microsoft can introduce Nuance to its massive international customer base. Last fiscal year, 49%
of Microsoft s revenue came from outside the U.S.
There are certain human medical processes that can be automated that Microsoft isn t immediately interested in. For instance, in recent years, researchers have developed tools that ask patients questions to help diagnose diseases and detect cancer by analyzing medical images.

Microsoft has launched a new Console Purchase Pilot scheme to help gamers buy Xbox Series X/S consoles directly through the company.
Xbox Insiders can register on the Xbox Insider Hub on Xbox One or on Windows 10.
Registering offers the chance to grab a console from Microsoft, though there’s limited space so not all those who register will be successful.
A console can then be bought through the Xbox app.

Shortages of PlayStation 5 consoles are likely to continue into next year, Sony has reportedly told analysts.
PlayStation CFO Hiroki Totoki spoke at an analyst briefing last week, as reported by

“I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand,” he said.
At a previous investor call, he made similar comments:
“As I said earlier, we’re aiming for more sales volume than the PS4 [during year 2]. But can we drastically increase the supply? No, that’s not likely.

The current console generation may have kicked off in late 2020, but component shortages and high demand have made both the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 difficult to come by even months after launch.
Unfortunately, executives at Sony aren t expecting the ongoing supply issues to end any time soon. According to executive comments passed along by Sony investors to Bloomberg, Sony doesn t expect to get ahead of demand until next year at least. I don t think demand is calming down this year, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki told analysts following Sony s financial reporting last week. And even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn t be able to catch up with demand.
The struggles to find a PlayStation 5 won t appear to end any time soon.
Sony warned analysts its popular video game console will remain under tight supply constraints through 2022, said a report from Bloomberg.
The report, which cites several unnamed sources who attended a briefing between Sony and analysts, said Chief Financial Officer Hiroki Totoki told analysts demand has been so strong for the PS5 that even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up.
Sony could not be immediately reached for comment.
