Editorial: Is Florida’s Baker Act being using too often to commit mentally ill kids? Tampa Bay Times Editorial Board, Tampa Bay Times © Amy Beth Bennett/South Florida Sun Sentinel/South Florida Sun Sentinel/TNS In Florida, the Baker Act allows the temporary, involuntary commitment of someone who poses an immediate danger to themselves or others due to mental illness. KXLY April 28, 2021 3:45 PM Glenn Shi, M.D., Tribune Content Agency Posted: Updated: Amy Beth Bennett/Sun Sentinel Nancy Spinedi Delledonne and her doctor fill out paperwork before her bunion surgery in 2016 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
