One resident injured as fire destroys house in Haledon

HALEDON One person was injured Wednesday when a two-alarm fire destroyed a home in the north end of the borough, authorities said.
The 1½-story home on John Ryle Avenue went up in flames shortly after 4 a.m., said Fire Chief Thomas Bakker Jr. The blaze was caused by a smaller fire that had spread from a car parked in the driveway, he said. © Amy Newman, NORTHJERSEY.COM/ USA TODAY NETWORK The aftermath of an early morning fire at 80 John Ryle Ave. in Haledon.
Bakker said the car fire was under investigation and that the home is uninhabitable.
