The American Red Cross is helping one family – two adults– four children after a fire today on Stony Hill Road, Brookfield.
The Red Cross provided assistance to meet the family’s immediate needs.
Responders included: Nancy Lavoie, Bert Goff and Amy Thomas.
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire.
In addition, a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more was provided.

Frances Goldsmith was born on June 8, 1936 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She passed away on January 18, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving, kind, fun, smart, sweet and gracious wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Frances attended Sulphur Springs High School and East Texas State University. She worked as a production seamstress at H.D. Lee Company, exceeding the standard on the production line. She served as the Union Organizer and Secretary for the United Garment Workers of America.
Shortly after her eldest child came along, she devoted her time and energy to being an excellent wife and mother. Taking care of her children, and many others who were not her own, was at the heart of everything she did. She loved the children she cared for and she developed strong bonds with them and their parents. She was an extremely talented seamstress, an amazing cook, and she had a
