Cancer support center, animal rescue in Central Jersey win Gannett Foundation grants Please support Needy Cases Fund this holiday season Replay Video Two local nonprofit organizations received grants from A Community Thrives, a USA TODAY NETWORK program. Bedminster-based Cancer Support Community Central, or CSCCNJ, and Milltown-based Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society have been awarded $9,000 and $6,000 grants, respectively. The merit-based grants are designed to support general operating expenses. Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society, a nonprofit that puts a positive light on animal rescue efforts, will use the funds to make community involvement and outreach  tenets of the organization a formal program in 2021, said Assistant Executive Director Jim LaCanna.

Daughter of Park City mayor begins alternative prosecution program Amy Sutton Updated 12/9/2020 6:47 PM Amy Sutton, a longtime Park City employee and daughter of Mayor Steve Pannell, entered into an alternative prosecution program last week following a guilty plea in connection to charges related to the theft of about $24,000. Sutton pleaded guilty in February to official misconduct, one of three counts levied against her related to the theft of about $24,000 from Park City, according to court records.   Instead of facing one to three years in prison, Sutton, 50, of Lindenhurst, must apologize, complete community service and pay about $24,000 in restitution. If she completes the program, the felony will be removed from her record.
