(WOWT) - The Omaha Fire Department is investigating what was a cause of a fire at an abandoned apartment building in the South Omaha area on Sunday afternoon. According to the fire report, smoke was noted in the area of 29th and Pacific. Fire crews investigated and discovered heavy smoke and flames from the second and third-floor windows of a three-story abandoned apartment complex. The fire continued from the second to the third floor and was put out within 14 minutes. No one was in the apartment and no injuries were reported.

Police say officers patrolling the area found the submerged car in Carter Lake just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. Police say the car s headlights and taillights were still on when the officers found it in the water. The Omaha Fire Department was called to pull the car from the water, and the body of 22-year-old Nyahon Thuok of Omaha was found inside it.

(KMTV) â The body of a 22-year-old woman was found near a fully submerged vehicle in Carter Lake early Wednesday, according to Omaha Police. Around 12:50 a.m., authorities were on routine patrol near the intersection of Locust St and Carter Lake Shore Dr when they saw a fully submerged vehicle in the lake. The Omaha Fire Department was notified and assembled a team to check the vehicle. The 22-year-old was found dead near the vehicle as it was being pulled out of the water.
