Gulfstream to Expand, Renovate Appleton Airport Facility

By Casey Nelson GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Improvements are coming to a Northeast Wisconsin aircraft facility. Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced Wednesday it will expand and renovate completions operations at its Appleton International Airport location. The improvements will further enhance aircraft interiors, with more than 200 new jobs created, according to the company. “This expansion is another effort in our long-range plan to upgrade and modernize Gulfstream facilities to further support our customers,” Gulfstream President Mark Burns said in a news release. “Enhancing the Appleton completions operations is in line with Gulfstream’s culture of continuous improvement and will allow the craftspeople who create Gulfstream’s award-winning aircraft interiors to build on the excellence they already deliver.”

(Image: Gulfstream Aerospace) Gulfstream Aerospace is expanding and renovating its completions facility in Appleton, Wisconsin, as part of a larger effort to modernize its facilities and enhance customer support. The Savannah, Georgia-based airframer will add more than 13,000 sq ft to its completions hangar at Appleton International Airport, bringing the facility to 126,500 sq ft. The improvements will also include upgrading the furniture finishing shop, consolidating completions back shops for improving workflow, and enhancing the shipping and receiving areas as well as HVAC systems. Along with the expansion, Gulfstream expects to add 200 new jobs.

Appleton International Airport Officials Express Optimism for 2021, Despite Major Hurdles in 2020 By Casey Nelson Jan 27, 2021 8:13 PM APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Officials at Appleton International Airport are optimistic for the future, after a big drop in passenger numbers in 2020. “It was an odd year,” said Airport Director Abe Weber. “We welcomed about 380,000 passengers through our airport terminal, and we think that’s going to continue to slowly increase in 2021.” 380,154 travelers passed through Appleton International last year. And while that’s a 48% drop from 2019, across the U.S., passengers were down 61% from last year, according to the Transportation Security Administration. Weber says being above the national trend line gives Appleton International a spark of optimism heading into 2021.

The system will also reduce the number of contact points for our passengers during the pandemic, ”said Mark Lendvay, Director of Federal Security for the Wisconsin TSA.
