Video Games
Probably some of my first experiences with video games were before starting elementary school, playing Pac-Man and Centipede at a local pizza place, there were loads of quarters spent, numerous rounds played and hot pizza. I remember feeling the utter excitement of playing video games as a kid, some of my very first encounters with video game consoles were with the Atari 2600 and Intellivision when visiting family friends homes. To this day, Breakout, created by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, continues to be one of my favorite Atari games of all times.
Beyond eating pizza and visiting other people’s houses to play, my Mum and I went to a department store to purchase a Vectrex, an all in one video game console with a monitor and over 20 games for my Dad as the big holiday gift. My Dad let me play for years.
How Phunk pioneered a riotous clash of art and design in Singapore

The monograph – named after a 2003 artwork – looks back on the early days of the studio, which was launched around the same time that the Apple Macintosh and software such as Adobe Illustrator were beginning to be widely used.
Phunk began life in 1994 as a streetwear label selling T-shirts covered with digitally illustrated imagery, but soon also made a name for themselves via their Guerrilla Fonts foundry. Later Phunk launched magazines and websites, landed work doing moving graphics for MTV, and other multimedia commissions for brands such as Levi’s and Casio – often mixing disparate styles and influences in joyous fashion.

Microsoft launched DOS on 12 August 1981 – the day IBM debuted its Personal Computer. Known as PC DOS on that machine (and marketed as MS-DOS on compatibles), its series of commands and programs soon became the standard for PCs, paving the way for Windows in November 1985.
But that first version of Windows was appalling. How did Microsoft achieve operating system dominance and how did it see off rivals as strong as CP/M, which had been around since the mid-1970s? As always in such battles for supremacy there were key moments – and a lot of luck – that worked in favour of the winner.

UNITED STATES Former Detective Zorba from the Underground Cities and his captors continued to the end of the intriguing storeroom full of Jurassic technology. In addition to the wind-up phonographs, there were even a few nicotined screens piled up from the late-20th century. Computer screens? That raised Zorba’s eyebrows.
“What year did you say this was?”
“The year 100 Twelvetrees.”
“You don’t say…Doesn’t the Leader’s rule start 25 years ago.” Zorba had adopted their use of singular present verbs to express everything. Part of him bristled at stooping to their primitive level.
“We asks, you answers,” said the plaid-shirted brother with a couple teeth blacked out.
