Sergeant Greg Beach, Detachment Commander for the Fairview RCMP stated that these thefts cause several issues one being the safety of the motoring public. These signs are set in place to advise drivers of the approaching need to stop or yield at the intersection. Without these signs in place the potential of collisions will increase and with that the potential for injuries.

Sergeant Beach further explained that the other issue is that the cost to replace these signs is high and this is something no municipality needs at any time is increased operating costs.
