The pandemic did a number to movie theaters and the film industry. Just recently celebrity sightings have been popping up all over New England with the likes of George Clooney, Jon Hamm and others as an indication that the movie business is coming back.
Since the lockdown and America’s shift to streaming services, it looked like a grim future for movie theaters. It appeared they might be a thing of the past.
Fear Not, Movies are Roaring Back to Life
It was heartbreaking to see the Cinemagic cinemas closing in New Hampshire. They just couldn’t survive the pandemic shut down, but according to unionleader.com, Boston area-based company Apple Cinemas will operate the theater locations in Hooksett and Merrimack.

Massachusetts-based Apple Cinemas is planning to take over the closed Cinemagic movie theater in Saco and reopen it in September The company also is reopening the former Cinemagic in Westbrook.

A Massachusetts-based movie theater company is planning to reopen two former Cinemagic locations, in Westbrook and Saco, by the end of September.
Apple Cinemas, based in the Boston area, is taking over the former Cinemagic properties on County Road in Westbrook and Route 1 in Saco, said Jegan Gomangalam, the company’s founder. Gomangalam said Tuesday that his company already has begun hiring staff for both locations and is encouraging anyone who worked at Cinemagic to apply online at [email protected]. Banners announcing the new theaters were hung at each site over the weekend.
