1/11/2021 UPDATE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Preliminary investigation of the death of the 20-year-old Auburn student on January 9th indicates that he died from multiple blunt force internal injuries from an intentional act and has been ruled a suicide. The investigation is still ongoing. His name and where he was from will not be released by this office.

Auburn Death Investigation The Auburn Police received a 911 call about 3:55 PM Saturday afternoon for a medical call in the 200 block of North Gay Street at the Standard apartment complex. Upon arrival by police, Auburn Fire and EAMC EMS, they located a male subject on the sidewalk that had apparently fallen from a 6th floor balcony of the complex. The 20-year-old Auburn student was rushed by ambulance to East Alabama Medical Center emergency room with critical injuries. Aggressive measures to save him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 4:46 PM. The preli

‘You couldn’t pay me to take it’: As COVID vaccine rolls out for Massachusetts first responders, some police, fire departments split on taking it

With Massachusetts first responders standing next in line to receive the coronavirus vaccine, the Auburn Police Department, like many law enforcement agencies across the state, surveyed its officers earlier this month to see how many plan to get vaccinated for the viral respiratory infection.
The results were compelling. Fewer than half the members of the department, 29 officers, said they plan to get vaccinated, while 31 answered they do not, with the town’s chief of police among those opting out of getting immunized.
