Fall in dog attacks against postal workers during pandemic 05/07/2021, 12:07 am Royal Mail said the number of dog attacks on postal workers is still too high (Royal Mail/PA) The number of dog attacks on postmen and women has fallen by almost a third in the past year, mainly due to changes to deliveries because of the pandemic, Royal Mail has reported. There were 1,690 dog incidents, compared with 2,445 in 2019/20, but the company said the number of attacks is still too high, with 33 every week, some of which lead to permanent and disabling injuries. During the Covid-19 crisis Royal Mail launched contact-free delivery, enabling workers to take letters and parcels to the doorstep while adhering to social distancing measures.

Dog left with broken leg after attack in Grizedale Forrest

CONCERNS have been raised after a dog was attacked in south Cumbria. A couple took to social media to spread a warning to pet owners after their own pooch was attacked n Grizedale Forrest on Saturday. The incident, which left a cocker spaniel with a suspected broken leg, involved two dogs who were being walked with their owners off their lead. The dogs spotted the little cocker spaniel and was tearing it . The incident was reported to police in Ambleside but no crime was recorded. A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said they were contacted with a report of a dog attack in the Grizedale Forest area but because the attack was on another dog it was not something police would investigate.
