The Gujarat High Court on Monday said it was concerned about cases of mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, emerging in the state and asked the government to prepare for the new challenge.
It directed the state government to place on record a road-map on how it intends to proceed if the number of cases of the fungal infection rise.
Of late, the black fungus, a rare but serious infection, has been found in several COVID-19 patients in Gujarat and some other states.

Gandhinagar, May 11 : Gujarat s Charity Commissioner has frozen the bank accounts of the NGO associated with independent legislator Jignesh Mevani s oxygen plant project. Mevani and the trust have decided to challenge the order in the high court.
Charity Commissioner Y.M, Shukla had on Monday issued show cause notice to NGO We the People , seeking reply from the organisation on authorisation given to the Independent legislator from Vadgam to raise funds from the public in the name of the organisation for setting up of oxygen plants and concentrators for his constituency.

Gandhinagar, May 5 : The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday granted three weeks time sought by state BJP chief CR Paatil and the state government regarding the Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani s public interest litigation (PIL) for illegal and unauthorised distribution of Remdesivir injection from the ruling BJP s Surat office.
The court has scheduled the next hearing on June 15.
Dhanani had, on April 14, filed a PIL against Paatil, Majura (Surat) MLA, the Gujarat government through Chief Secretary Anil Mukim, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Jayanti Ravi, FDCA Commissioner, Hemant Koshiya, the Surat Collector and the Police Commissioner for illegally acquiring, stocking and distributing Remdesivir injections.
