Eighteen people, including seven children, were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Rajasthan s Jaipur, Kota, Jhalawar and Dholpur districts on Sunday, police said. Twenty-one people, including six children, were also injured in lightning incidents in separate villages in the state, they said.
Meanwhile, PM Modi expressed grief over the deaths of people due to lightning in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed his deepest condolences over the deaths of at least 16 people due to lightning strikes in several districts of Rajasthan. Many people have lost their lives due to lightning in some areas of Rajasthan. Deeply saddened by the demise of people. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the dead: PM @narendramodi, Prime Minister s Office (PMO) said in a tweet.
Earlier on Sunday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives due to lightning strikes in the state.

Lightning strikes killed at least 67 people across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Scattered rainfall was reported in parts of these states.
Sixteen people were killed when lightning struck them on a hill near the Amer Fort in Rajasthan’s Jaipur city, ANI reported, citing the police. The incident took place when people were taking selfies at a watch tower amid rain.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava said that the police rescued 29 people with the help of local residents. Srivastava said that the injured were taken to the hospital. The toll is part of the rescued tally, according to the police chief.
