With just four games remaining for the Blackhawks and no postseason in the future, the 2021 season is all but over for Chicago. However, the season wasn’t a total loss. Anyone watching knows that the emergence and development of a number of young players into viable NHL regulars, most of whom will be part of the lineup next season, was a major accomplishment.
And they were singular in that regard this season:

And that should continue into next year, with some new additions, of course.

No. 10 Omaha Rallies to Down Colorado College, 3-2
OMAHA, Neb. Despite a pair of goals from senior co-captain Grant Cruikshank, Colorado College dropped a 3-2 decision to 10
th-ranked Omaha Saturday at Baxter Arena.
Kirby Proctor scored from the left point with 61 seconds left in the third period to break a 2-2 deadlock. The Mavericks (13-6-1) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to sweep the six-game series with the Tigers this season.
Cruikshank, who missed six games with appendicitis and returned to the lineup Friday night, opened the scoring at the 13:10 mark of the first. He slid down the slot, took a pass from Hunter McKown and beat Omaha goalie Isaiah Saville from the inside of the right circle for his team-high seventh goal of the season.
It’s been an up and down season for the Chicago Blackhawks.
And, sure, we knew it’d be tough heading into the year, but even with the few bright spots aside, we’ve seen this team’s deficiencies highlighted. Of course, on the bright side, they’re looking at a high chance of earning one the top draft picks in the 2021 NHL Draft Lottery. With that in mind, we took a look at some potential targets for the first round yesterday (so be sure to check that out), and we’ll settle in with some second-round targets today.
