SEMINOLE, Texas (KCBD) - After the jury deliberated for about an hour on Friday in the trial for 43-year-old Jacob Unger Neufeld, they presented a guilty verdict. He was found guilty of the murder of his wife, 40-year-old Susana Peters Neufeld.
District Attorney Philip Mack Furlow said his office is pleased with the juryâs verdict.
In February 2019, Deputies with the Gaines County Sheriffâs Office were called around 8 p.m. to the 400 block of County Road 300-J in Seminole after it was reported a woman was shot. Sheriffâs deputies, along with members of the Seminole Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded and found Susana Neufeld dead from a gunshot wound.

Seminole, Texas (KCBD) - On Sunday, February 14, 2021 at approximately 7:00 a.m., police received a call in reference to a man kicking in a door at a home located in the 400 Block of Northwest H Avenue.
An Officer and Deputy arrived on scene and the man was not in the residence.
Police were aware of felony warrants for the man.
Officers were able to track the subject to a small metal building in the backyard of the residence.

Area law enforcement mourning Gaines County deputy who died of COVID-19
The law enforcement community around the region and state is mourning the death of Gaines County Sheriff s Deputy Alex Martinez, who died from COVID-19 complications on Wednesday.
The Gaines County Sheriff s Office released a statement Wednesday announcing Martinez s death, which they confirmed was due to complications of COVID-19. He was 26, according to family. Keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, the statement from Gaines County continued.
Martinez served the Levelland volunteer fire department and as a Hockley County jailer up until he was hired by Gaines County as a deputy, the Levelland department shared Wednesday.
