WARREN A science teacher with “big ideas” is running to defeat one of the city’s longest-serving council members in the race for the Democratic nomination for the city’s 2nd Ward seat.
Newcomer Andrew Herman, 54, is seeking to unseat Councilman Alford Novak, 68, who has been on council for 30 years.
The primary election will take place May 4.
Herman, a science teacher and coach in the Howland Local School District, said he has the ideas and time to make Warren a better place.
“I’ve always had a volunteering spirit and now that my kids are grown up, I have more time to do things,” Herman said. “We need to make the city more attractive to convince businesses to move into the city.”
