The Australian Bureau of Statistics has already received more than one million Census forms following a new rule that allows households to complete it prior to Census night.
Officially Census night is August 10, but thanks to COVID-19 restrictions the ABS is allowing households to pre-fill their forms if they already know who will be in their household come Census night.
As of Wednesday, August 4, an estimated 1,023,561 Census forms had already been completed.

Twitter partners with ABS to support Census efforts

Twitter has announced it has partnered the Australian Bureau of Statistics to launch a dedicated search prompt.

The public conversation on Twitter is never more important than during major civic events, the cornerstones of our democracy. Today, we want to provide an update on Twitter’s efforts with regard to the 2021 Australian Census.
This year, Census Night is taking place on Tuesday, 10 August 2021, and the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) will count every person and household in Australia.
The Census is coming this August. Your answers help plan local services for individuals, families and communities.

Australians encouraged to check their letterboxes for Census instructions
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has started sending instructions on how to complete the Census to more than 10 million Australian households ahead of the Census on Tuesday 10 August.
Around 85 per cent of all households in Australia will receive a letter that explains how to complete online or how to order a paper form.
Some households will receive a paper form and a reply-paid envelope for its return. There are instructions on the paper form if they prefer to complete it online.
